Marine Welder

Basic Job Description:

Welding of ship`s structure, Machinery foundation etc using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Includes experimental welders who analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable.

  • Applying safe working practice while performing duties
  • weld marine structures , ships and structural components in all positions
  • adjust heat and wire speed settings to assure wire penetration and weld quality to base material
  • tack , heat bend, grind parts required configurations
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment and notify supervisors
  • Monitor the fitting and welding process to avoid overheating, warping, distortion or expansion of material
Employment Opportunities:

Welders are high in demand in India and abroad: in fact they are recorded as highest employed workers in construction industry. In ship building 80% of the total work is welding.

The course curriculum covers industry requirements for employment in Shipyards and Marine related industries such as Oil & Gas, Offshore, Ports & Harbours, equipment manufacturers & service, Merchant Navy etc in India and abroad. The DNV GL approval is widely accepted in Middle East, Europe and Far East countries. In light of above, this program provides huge employment to the young generation. Their work criteria changes according to the type and domain of the company they are working with. As the industrial sector has drastically risen in pace and technology the need for more technically trained professionals has increased exponentially.

Training Course at College of Ship Technology:

Objective : The program is designed to educate and train the students in ship building technology with a view to perform welding work at ship building or ship repair industries which is of highest standard.

Program Structure : The program is designed as a combination of Lecture and Practical`s at College workshops.

Level : 6G - SMAW/ GMAW/ GTAW, Automatic , Gas Cutting

Eligibility Criteria : The basic qualification for the admission of the Course is a pass in Plus Two Exam / ITI

Duration : The program is of Five months

Intake Strength : 20 trainees per batch.

Attendance : The students are required to have 80% attendance.

Approval & Certification : Det Norske Veritas - Germanisher Llyod (Norway)

Food & Accommodation : Hostel & Mess available at College
